-Delovely-

Let's do it...Let's fall in love...

That was the resounding refrain in my mind as I stepped out of the theatre. Delovely was simply a lovely piece of cinematography. Ashely Judd looked ravishing and the banter during her 1st meeting with Kevin Kline was witty and entertaining.

The depth of her love for him was truly deep even to the point of embracing his pursuit of other interests as he so succintly put it. Time and again as they moved house, one could really see the anguish in her eyes as he had one dalliance after another. What's a woman to do in that era? Thank God for the emanicipation of women since then!

I sat through a pleasant 2 hours of singing, dancing as the life of Cole Porter was portrayed through the male protagonist recollecting his life. The death scene was especially poignant to me as even on her deathbed, Linda was afraid Cole would be lonely. The coming of their 2 lives was symbolised through the hybrid rose he presented to her. This was a little cliched but hey..it's a story about a love affair. In fact I nearly cried.

But it set me thinking. Why do people cherish what they have only when it is gone? So carpe diem! Call that long-lost friend you've lost touch with, take time off to smell the roses, go out with the person you have been noticing for some time! =)
